Intelligent Boom Control Added To John Deere 1270G Harvester
John Deere’s 1270G Harvester is known for its superior traction and stability, and models with the CH7 boom can now enjoy Intelligent Boom Control (IBC). This feature automatically adjusts as the boom is taken the tree and when the tree is in the grapple, so the operator can focus on controlling the harvest head. The design allows for increased loading speed and accuracy, which in turn improves productivity and reduces boom fatigue.
"We are very excited to introduce Intelligent Boom Control to the North American harvester category," says Sakari Suuriniemi, product marketing manager for John Deere. "With the addition of IBC, the operator will have more precise control of the boom tip, and reducing the learning curve for new operators."
The CH7 Boom
Currently, IBC is available exclusively for the CH7 boom, and on the 1270G models, the CH7 allows for 32.8-foot (10-meter) and 38.4-foot (11.7-meter) reaches. With IBC, the operator is able to direct the reach and height of the boom tip. One joystick move the boom tip horizontally, while a second manages vertical adjustments. Automation of the boom allows the operator to focus on precision work with the harvest head.
The 1270G Harvester
John Deere offers the 1270G Harvester in six- and eight-wheel models. The latter is designed for steep slopes and soft terrain. The more compact six-wheel option boasts a 268 horsepower Final Tier 4 engine that delivers increased torque—when compared to previous John Deere harvesters. For operator comfort and optimal control, the cabin of the G-series machine adjusts automatically to boom movements. Automatic level functions inside the 1270G Harvester allow it to better absorb terrain changes.
