Case IH Trident 5550 Combination Applicator Named ASABE Top Innovative Product
Four Case IH products received 2018 AE50 awards from the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE), with the Case IH Trident 5550 liquid/dry combination applicator taking home the Davidson Prize. This is the inaugural year for the Davidson Prize, which is awarded to the top three innovative products among AE50 honorees.
Trident 5550 Liquid/Dry Combination Applicator
Redesigned from the ground up, the Trident 5550 can change over from liquid to dry and back again throughout the course of three seasons of use. The fast-converting combination applicator also features precise application technology, which gives you extra flexibility to protect and feed your crops at the optimal time.
Flexibility & Efficiency A Common Thread
Other Case IH products receiving AE50 awards were the Steiger series tractor with CVXDrive continuously variable transmission, the 2140 Early Riser planter with an in-cab split-row lift system, and Nutri-Placer 930 fertilizer applicator with new High-speed Low Disturbance coulter. The innovations, while different for each machine, are notable for increasing the equipment’s functionality and expanding configuration options. For example, the CVXDrive technology on the Steiger series tractor, according to Case IH, is the first continuously variable transmission for an articulated 4WD tractor.
On the new 2140 Early Riser planter, Case IH adds ultra-narrow row 15-, 20-, and 22-inch (38-, 51-, and 56-centimeter) spacings with split-row configuration options, so you can easily convert from one crop to the next. The planter’s a pivot fold transport package also lets it more easily move from field to field and navigate tight field entrances. The Nutri-Placer 930 fertilizer applicator’s High-speed Low Disturbance coulter lets you cover 510 acres (206.4 hectares) in a 12-hour day, according to Case IH.
