John Deere Announces Several Tech & Performance Updates For 2019 9R Tractor Family

Technology- and performance-related updates are on tap for John Deere’s 2019 9R, 9RT, and 9RX tractor models. These include a 120-inch (3-meter) track spacing option offered for the first time for 9470RX, 9520RX, 9570RX, and 9620RX Series Four Track Ag Tractors outfitted with 30- and 36-inch (76- and 91-centimeter) tracks.

A Wider Stance

In a news release, Tiffany Turner, John Deere product marketing manager for large tractors, said the 120-inch track spacing option benefits customers in various ways. “The extra wide stance of this machine is ideal for customers wanting to control traffic patterns and enhanced stability on hilly terrain," Turner said. "A wider stance also makes it easier to perform daily maintenance and service, plus it offers hassle-free material cleanout."

Turner says customers seeking a John Deere 9RX equipped with a 3-point hitch must choose the 87-inch (2.2-meter) track spacing option with the 30-inch tracks due to the 120-inch track spacing not being compatible with a 3-point hitch.

Hydraulic Management

Another update entails an optional factory- or field-installed Hydraulic Intelligent Power Management (IPM) system designed to boost tractor performance when operating implements requiring continuous hydraulic power. “Hydraulic IPM is specifically designed for air seeding operators using large drills and air carts on their farms," Turner said. The system offers an extra 25 horsepower in gears 5-18 and 50 extra horsepower in gears 1-4, thus “enabling the tractor to pull heavy loads through tough conditions."

John Deere says Hydraulic IPM is compatible with 2015 John Deere 9620R Ag Tractors and 2016 9620RX Ag Tractors but is not compatible with a 3-point hitch. The system requires a 115-gallon-per-minute (435-liter-per-minute) dual hydraulic pump.

Elsewhere, the company will include a factory-installed Generation 4 CommandCenter 18-1 software update as base equipment for the 2019 9R, 9RT and 9RX Tractors. A CommandCenter AutoTrac activation will come with the update providing non-transferrable, machine-specific AutoTrac functionality on the integrated Generation 4 CommandCenter, the company states.
