Massey Ferguson 1700M Series Compact Tractors Debut With Deluxe Cab Option
Five models, including three with a Deluxe Cab option, make up the Massey Ferguson 1700M Series of compact tractors that recently debuted at the Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa. Equipped with 3- and 4-cylinder Shibaura Tier 4 Final emissions diesel engines ranging from 36- to 60-horsepower, the 1700M Series are billed as Massey Ferguson’s “most premium” compact tractor ever. The company says they are ideal for general farm and property maintenance jobs, landscaping, small-scale road and land grading, and light construction applications.
Engine & Performance
The 1700M Series includes the MF1735M and MF1740M 3-cylinder models and MF1750M, MF1755M, and MF1760M HST (hydrostatic transmission) 4-cylinder models. All meet Tier 4 emissions requirements without needing a diesel particulate filter (DPF). Instead, they use an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve and diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC). Jeffrey Ratliff, AGCO tactical marketing manager, says meeting emissions requirements without a DPF gives the 1700M Series a “significant” advantage over competitors thanks to “no excessive heat buildup, no downtime related to emissions, lower maintenance costs,” and an ability to shut the engine down at any time without “fear of bypassing necessary regeneration.”
The 1700M Series models also include a 540-rpm independent rear PTO, though an optional 2,000-rpm mid-mount PTO engaged electro-hydraulically is available. Buyers can also select between a 12 x 12 Power Shuttle transmission with forward/reverse wet clutch or electronically controlled 3-Range Hydrostatic option. In terms of performance, the MF1735M, MF1740M, and MF1755M include a 3-point hitch with 2,535-pound (1,150-kilogram) lift capacity, while the MF1750M and MF1760M support a 3,086-pound (1,400-kilogram) lift capacity.
A Deluxe Cab
Massey Ferguson’s newest compact tractors come with an open-station platform cab or factory-installed Deluxe Cab. The former includes a flat rubber floor, upgraded seat with armrests, and suspended foot pedals. The latter, available with the MF1740M, MF1750M and MF1760M HST, was developed “with municipalities and hard-working acreage owners in mind.” Besides a new air-ride seat, the Deluxe Cab includes Bluetooth support, LED work lamps, storage area, a rear windshield defroster, and an improved sun visor.
Massey Ferguson produces tractors of all sizes, as well as combine harvesters, windrowers, mowers and conditioners, square and round balers, rakes and tedders, tillage equipment, spreaders, cutters, and more.
