New Fendt IDEAL Combine Highlights AGCO’s Display At Upcoming Farm Progress Show
Global agriculture equipment manufacturer AGCO will have several of its products on display at the upcoming Farm Progress Show in late August in Boone, Iowa, from its Fendt, Massey Ferguson, RoGator, Challenger, and White Planters brands. Arguably most noteworthy will be the new Fendt IDEAL combine harvester making its U.S. debut at the show. Featuring what Fendt refers to as the first clean-sheet design of a combine in 30 years, the IDEAL made its North American debut in June at Canada’s Farm Progress Show.
An IDEAL Combine
AGCO is offering the IDEAL in Class 7, 8, and 9 models and says it spent seven years developing and testing the machine. In addition to a redesigned rotor that’s gentler on crops and straw, the IDEAL features a new dual-helix processor that measures 2 feet (0.61 meters) in diameter and about 16 feet (4.9 meters) long, which AGCO claims is about 2 feet longer than competitors’ offerings. The IDEAL also includes a Streamer 6.0 high-capacity unloading system with included 485-bushel grain bin that the combine can unload six seconds faster than competitors’ 350-bushel bins, according to AGCO.
Operators will be able to monitor and adjust the IDEAL’s harvesting settings using a related iPad app in combination with the IDEALharvest system. AGCO says an internal camera will give operators “unprecedented, real-time visualization of crop flow” in the cab. Additionally, 50-plus onboard sensors will help determine “what is grain and what is not” to help alter settings appropriately. The IDEAL will accept draper, corn, and pickup heads from Gleaner.
On Display
Besides the IDEAL, AGCO will display the Massey Ferguson RB Series Silage Baler, AGCO’s first silage-specific baler, and the new Massey Ferguson 1700M Series Compact Tractor. AGCO’s “most premium compact tractor” ever, the 1700M Series comes in five models offering Tier 4-compliant turbocharged diesel engines producing 396 to 517 horsepower. Also on display will be the RoGator C Series LiquidLogic spray table and the White Planters 9924VE tracked planter featuring a factory-fit vSet meter, vDrive electronic drive system, and integrated Precision Planting 20|20 monitoring.
AGCO will have a Precision Planting automated-planting display at the show that lets attendees view the 20|20 monitoring system and related technologies. AGCO will also display the Sunflower 6830NT high-speed rotary finisher and provide field demonstrations of Fendt 1000 Vario tractors and Sunflower Tillage implements. Attendees can also test-drive various Challenger tractors, including the Challenger 1000 Series, on three tracks.
