Case IH Tillage Equipment To Receive AFS Soil Command For Spring 2019
Available for spring 2019, Case IH is expanding its AFS Soil Command agronomic control technology to its Tiger-Mate 255 field cultivator, single-fold True-Tandem disk harrows and vertical tillage tools, and the Ecolo-Tiger 875 disk ripper. Case IH says AFS Soil Command, which relies on AFS (Advanced Farming Systems) components to optimize machine settings to match field conditions, will help growers “precisely coordinate control of their tillage equipment from the tractor cab.”
Agronomically Correct
Case IH Tillage Marketing Manager Chris Lursen says AFS Soil Command helps producers properly set tillage equipment to “unlock more agronomic potential” for their seedbed. “Case IH tillage equipment already sets the stage for an ideal seedbed, and now producers can choose to take soil quality a step further,” he says.
Case IH says producers often alter the depth of tillage tools without also adjusting other machine functions, citing the Ecolo-Tiger 875 as an example of how shank depth and disk depth can become misaligned, leading to a less efficient, uneven finish. Automating these settings with the main depth adjustment is critical to creating a high-efficiency seedbed, Case IH says. “In many cases, operators may not be aware of a misadjusted tillage tool,” Lursen explains. “On a True-Tandem disk harrow, fore/aft levelness and Crumbler pressure should be evaluated when the disk depth is changed, but this doesn’t always happen.” With AFS Soil Command, however, all tillage settings remain optimized if the main depth is changed.
On Display
Producers can make in-cab adjustments to optimize settings using the ISOBUS-VT-compliant AFS Pro 700 display. Further, they can save their settings as a preset so that implements make adjustments with one button push. “The beauty of AFS Soil Command is that any operator can seamlessly transition to this technology,” Lursen says. “Normal, everyday operation doesn’t change for the operator. For example, they will still use the tractor remote lever to lift and lower at every headland, just as with tillage tools without the control technology.”
