Case IH Updates Disc Mower Conditioner Models, In-Field Efficiency Gains In Store
Case IH has announced updates to the 9- and 10-foot (2.7- and 3-meter) side-pull models—“perfect for lower acreages and narrow gates”—in its 2019 family of disc mower conditioners aimed at providing various efficiency gains. A quick-change knife system, for example, is designed to reduce maintenance time by one-third compared to a standard knife system. In addition to the 9-foot DC92 and 10-foot DC102 models, Case IH’s DC 3 Series of rotary disc mower conditioners includes the 13-foot (4-meter) DC133 and 16-foot (4.9-meter) DC163.
Faster Dry-Down
In addition to benefits the knife system provides, the updates include a narrow cutterbar design and improved flotation. The latter will “deliver a high-quality cut and more even windrows for consistent and faster dry-down,” Case IH says. A new four-pin hydraulic tilt feature, meanwhile, will provide greater cutting-height flexibility. Notably, no tools are needed to adjust the tilt.
Other updates include a modular cutterbar system Case IH claims provides “superior lubrication” versus competitors’ systems and eliminates cross-contamination issues related to internal failures. Further, the cutterbar uses a shock-protection system offering protection against in-field obstacles, while a heavy-duty curtain adds operator protection. Finally, for high-quality hay-production applications, the company says a nearly 1:1 cut width to conditioning roll width ratio promotes faster dry-down by providing “even and thorough conditioning.”
Optimizing Every Field
Case IH Hay and Forage Marketing Manager Brian Spencer says these updates will make it easy for operators to make adjustments as they encounter different field conditions, which will optimize “every field” for productivity. “Windrow-formation adjustments have never been easier to make,” Spencer says, “and the conditioner systems allow for wider, thinner swaths, so more crop is exposed to the sun for faster dry-down.”
