Cummins Tier 4 Final Engines Power Apache Sprayer Lineup
Cummins, a leading developer and manufacturer of diesel and alternative-fuel engines, recently released a statement on Equipment Technologies’ use of Cummins Tier 4 Final engines in its Apache sprayer lineup. Equipment Technologies is the parent company of the Mooresville, Indiana,-based Apache, which bills itself as the world’s largest maker of mechanical drive sprayers.
“Power, Efficiency & Reliability”
Jason Beckort, Cummins industrial sales manager, says Cummins is always seeking ways to help customers succeed. In terms of Apache customers, Beckort says Cummins aims to provide them the “Tier 4 Final engine power, efficiency, and reliability” needed to operate successful businesses. “From the beginning, Cummins application engineers and machine integration specialists have worked closely with the Equipment Technologies team to deliver optimum engine installations for the full range of sprayers,” Beckort says.
The latest Apache sprayer to come equipped with a Cummins engine is the new AS640, which houses a Cummins QSB4.5 Tier 4 Final engine offering 163 horsepower and 466 pounds-foot of torque (632 newton meters). Weighing less than 17,000 pounds (7,711 kilograms) and offering enhanced fuel consumption and reduced soil compaction, the AS640 is aimed at smaller farm operations as a cost-friendly, self-propelled option; for larger operations, it’s perfect for areas that aren’t practical to spray with a larger tractor. You’ll also find a Cummins 6.7-liter engine in Apache’s 40 Series sprayer models, including the 173-horsepower AS740, 225-horsepower AS1040, 260-horsepower AS1240, and 300-horsepower AS1240 XP.
For 2019
Apache announced in late-August new efficiency- and productivity-minded features for its 2019 model year sprayer lineup. These include an adjustable axle option, the Raven Advanced RS1 Steering System, a new positive-position joystick, and Raven Slingshot in-cab remote support. Equipment Technologies CEO Matt Hays says Cummins engines help Apache owners get the most for their time and energy. “Performance, reliability, and fuel efficiency are top priority, and Cummins engines deliver on all those promises,” he says.
