John Deere Expands Tillage Equipment Lineup With 2660VT Tillage Tool & 2680H Disk
John Deere is expanding its tillage equipment lineup for 2019 with the new 2660VT Variable-Intensity Tillage Tool and the 2680H High-Performance Disk. The former comes in six models spanning 20 to 50 feet (6.1 to 15.24 meters) in three- and five-section configurations, while the latter comes in 15 models ranging from 8-foot (2.4-meter) mounted models to 45-foot (13.7-meter) drawn models.
The 2660VT
Featuring an all-new frame, operating speeds reaching 10 mph (16 km/h), multiple tire options (radial, bias, and high flotation), and front-mounted caster wheels with active-hydraulic depth control on the outer wings, John Deere bills the 2660VT as a “true multi-season machine” suitable for numerous soil, crop, residue, and field conditions.
The 2660VT also notably includes an adjustable gang feature that lets operators adjust the gang angle from 0 degrees for sizing residue and vertical soil movement chores to 12 degrees for “aggressive” horizontal soil movement and burying crop residue. Adjustments are possible using a manual slider or automated TruSet Tillage Technology. The latter enables in-cab 1-degree adjustments and prescription tillage abilities. Various optional TruSet adjustments and a TruSet Side-to-Side system for “more precise depth control of individual sections” are available.
The 2660VT will also introduce Deere’s 22-inch (55.8-centimeter) Commander Blade with double-cut edge for penetrating hard soil and sizing and mixing residue. A two-part ProFinish Leveling System, meanwhile, includes new hydraulic double rolling baskets and a front knife-edge basket that’s mounted in reverse.
The 2680H
Providing 10 to 14 mph (16 to 22 km/h) field speeds, the 2680H High-Performance Disk can till more than double the acres per day compared with similarly sized traditional disks, Deere says. Also noteworthy is the 2680H’s individual 20-inch (50.8-centimeter) disk blades (smooth or notched) that are mounted on a rubber torsion suspension system. With 9 inches (22.9 centimeters) of travel, the blades can follow ground contours, ride over obstructions, and pop back into position. In addition to a shim system for setting depth control, the 2680H includes numerous rear finishing attachments (standard cage roller or optional spring tine or rubber rollers with hydraulically adjustable scrapers) and includes high-flotation tires standard with drawn models.
