John Deere Introduces New Precision Ag Solutions
John Deere is updating existing software and adding new features to its line of precision technology products. One of the headliners is the company’s new 4240 Universal Display, which will replace the GreenStar 2 1800 and features a high-contrast multicolor 8.4-inch touch-screen display with an IP65-rated, weather-resistant shell. It has video input, Ethernet ports, ISOBUS support, and more. It comes standard with Deere’s AutoTrac automated guidance support and documentation, but also offers a wide range of compatible applications to choose from, including Section Control, Wireless Data Transfer, Remote Display Access, and Data Sync with John Deere Operations Center, some of which will require an extra subscription for access.
“The 4240 Universal Display is perfect for producers who want an economical but robust display for AutoTrac and documentation,” says John Mishler, tactical marketing manager for John Deere precision ag products. “It can be used on open-station John Deere tractors and equipment of other brands. It's the ideal display for customers running mixed fleets who need basic precision applications for drawn sprayers, baling, planting, tillage and other operations.”
AutoTrac Universal 300
Another new release from John Deere is AutoTrac Universal 300, which will replace AutoTrac Universal 200. This guidance system offers simple setup with the press of a Start Calibration button, a compact and comfortable steering wheel, and is weather-resistant, making it an excellent complement to the 4240 Universal Display for use with open-station tractors and other similar machines. “Most producers have experienced time and cost savings, as well as the convenience and precision, that automated guidance offers,” Mishler explains. “AutoTrac Universal 300 provides producers these same benefits when operating machines that aren’t currently AutoTrac-enabled in an easy-to-use, affordable system.”
Gen 4 Software Update 18-2
John Deere also announced a software update for all of its Gen 4 displays with v2 processors, dubbed “Software Update 18-2.” After installing this update, users will get access to documentation as well as the ability to look at multiple map layers at once, mark specific areas with a flag, use third-party receivers and rate controllers, better utilize the John Deere Operations Center for data and analytics, and much more. “The new 18-2 software update bundle provides greater functionality, more versatility and application customization, allowing customers to do a better job with many field operations and bringing greater efficiency, value and information,” Mishler says.
