John Deere Debuts Bigger, Stronger 6R Series Tractors
John Deere has added a pair of more powerful, faster-accelerating tractors to its 6R lineup. The new 6230R and 6250R come standard with infinitely variable transmissions (IVTs) and are rated for 230 horsepower (171.5 kilowatts) and 250 horsepower (186.4 kilowatts), respectively. The company says they should excel at hauling, transport, and loader work when equipped with a 680R Loader.
“Livestock, dairy, and hay producers will appreciate the power of these tractors, especially when they need to haul heavy loads or want to reach optimal transport speed more quickly,” says Anne Anderson, product marketing manager with John Deere. “The performance and versatility of these tractors makes them a solid choice for loader and PTO work such as baling.”
Travel & Transport
John Deere chose IVTs for the new tractors to give them faster acceleration and the ability to meet the exact speed required for the situation. Two IVTs are available with either a 25-mph (40.2-km/h) or 31-mph (49.9-km/h) top speed. The tractors’ frame, being four inches (102 millimeters) longer, helps to smooth out the ride at travel speeds.
Both the 6230R and 6250R come with Triple-Link Suspension (TLS) Plus. This automatic, three-mode suspension control system can dampen shock loads, improve traction, increase ride comfort, or increase pulling performance up to 10%. In manual mode, TLS Plus can also raise or drop the frame to attach front implements.
John Deere notes that the 6250R can produce up to 300 horsepower (224 kilowatts) when using the power bulge and Intelligent Power Management (IPM) features. Both new tractors come with a front hitch and front PTO.
Take Command
Other key 6R Series features include the CommandPRO control lever with inching control, variable-ratio steering at low travel speeds, and available AutoTrac activation.
The new tractors come standard with the Gen 4 4200 CommandCenter with an 8.4-inch (213-millimeter) color display; the 4600 CommandCenter is optional. Also included or available are JDLink telematics, Remote Display Access, Service ADVISOR Remote, and Expert Alerts technologies.
“This technology can track machine uptime and provide customers with proactive diagnostics,” Anderson says. “Using Wireless Data Transfer, customers can even send field prescription and documentation files directly to the tractor while it’s in the field.”
