Case IH Highlights Connectivity & Control In New AFS Connect Magnum Series Tractors

    Posted On: March 25, 2019

Along with numerous new in-cab features, the new model-year 2020 AFS Connect Magnum series tractors from Case IH will integrate a new AFS Pro 1200 display that will enable growers to view the same field conditions and other views the operator is seeing. (Photo courtesy of CNH Industrial.)

“Connectivity that provides freedom.” That’s what Case IH is promising with its new model year 2020 AFS (Advanced Farming Systems) Connect Magnum. The tractor incorporates AFS precision technology via a new AFS Pro 1200 display, AFS Vision Pro operating system, AFS Vector Pro receiver, and “completely redesigned hardware environment” enabling remote display viewing, remote support abilities, and other capabilities.

In addition to a tri-stripe decal, the exterior of Case IH’s new AFS Connect Magnum series tractors will offer a LED grille headlight option, 360-degree egress lighting for nighttime operations, telescoping mirrors, four camera feeds, tire-pressure-monitoring sensors, and more. “Farm The Way You Want”

Chris Dempsey, Case IH AFS marketing manager, says the tractor’s technology integrations will support seamless communication between producers and their partners and providers. “Whether receiving a planting prescription from an agronomist or reviewing an operational question in real time with remote display viewing, these time-saving opportunities are critical to maintaining uptime in our tight operational windows,” he says. “You can be 3 miles or 300 miles away and instantly connect remotely to get the information needed to resolve an issue.”

Growers will be able to log into the AFS Connect portal via an internet-connected desktop or mobile device and connect to the tractor from virtually anywhere. This would allow them to view what the operator sees, for example, on the in-cab AFS Pro 1200 display in order to provide assistance or use remote service support to remotely spot maintenance and service issues. Broadly speaking, says Jay Barth, Case IH high-horsepower marketing manager, the tractor’s connectivity provides the freedom “to farm the way you want.”

    Interior & Exterior Updates

The AFS Connect Magnum series also includes numerous new cab features that address Case IH customer needs. These include an advanced MultiControl armrest with eight control buttons, MultiFunction handle with four programmable hotkey buttons, encoder knob providing fingertip operator control, enhance heating and air conditioning, enhanced visibility, and telescoping steering wheel. The exterior will include a tri-stripe decal, updated grille, 360-degree egress lighting, telescoping mirrors, four camera feeds, and more.

“We used a clean-sheet approach to completely redesign this cab, and it allowed us to deliver on what our customers need,” Barth says.

    For Your Protection

Case IH has yet to announce pricing details, but says the model year 2020 AFS Connect Magnum series tractors will come with a two-year, 2,000-hour factory warranty.
