Cub Cadet Launches Ultima Series Of Residential Zero-Turn Mowers
The Ultima Series is a brand-new line of zero-turn mowers for residential users from Cub Cadet. The company says that it started from scratch with the new design, focusing on key consumer concerns including durability, user comfort, the quality of the cut, and easy maintenance.
UltimaFeatures
Giving the Ultima mowers structural strength is a continuous, fully-welded, 2 x 2-inch (51-millimeter), tubular frame. The frame and deck shell carry a limited lifetime warranty. Operator comfort is assisted by a premium, adjustable, high-backed seat with polymer isolators. A rubber floor mat and overmolded hand grips serve to quell vibration.
Cub Cadet claims the Ultima Series’ Aeroforce mower deck supplies the “best cut in its class,” citing a side discharge, mulching, and bagging test the company commissioned Ohio State University to perform. The deck has 15 height adjustment settings in 1/4-inch (6.4-millimeter) increments.
The Ultima mowers are made easy to clean and maintain through an open-frame design and access to its deck, battery, and engine. The series runs on 22-, 23-, and 24-horsepower (16.4-, 17.2-, and 17.9-kilowatt) engines from Kohler and Kawasaki.
Models
Cub Cadet assigns the Ultimas model numbers according to their 42-, 46-, 50-, 54-, or 60-inch (107-, 117-, 127-, 137-, and 152-centimeter) decks. Thus, the ZT1 trim level includes the ZT1 42, ZT1 46, ZT1 50, and ZT1 54, and come with either stamped twin-blade or AeroForce triple-blade decks.
The larger ZT2 trim level fields the ZT2 50, ZT2 54, and ZT2 60 models. These come with a reinforced, 3-blade mower deck; upscale engines; a beefier transmission; bigger, tougher tires; and armrests, among other things.
Other Ultima features include LED headlights, a rear towing hitch, and an offset axle in the front. New models are already available for sale.
“Our commitment to carefully and thoughtfully designing around people will continue to be the heart of our success,” says Trevor Oriold, Cub Cadet business segment director.
