New Combination Baler-Wrappers From John Deere Cut, Bale, Wrap & Drop Seamlessly
John Deere announced this week that two new combination round balers, the C451R and C461R, will join its 2020 lineup. The company says these new models will help producers more efficiently cut, bale, and wrap all types of forage for higher-quality feed.
The balers are the first of their kind the company has offered in North America and use the John Deere V-Series Variable-Chamber Baler with 7-foot-wide (213-centimeter) pickup and Deere’s MaxiCut precutter with up to 25 knives to size the length of cut according to operator preference. Two levers on the side of the baler allow the operator to engage one of two knife banks, or both, to select their cut length. According to the company, a large-diameter, fully integrated converging auger in the feeding system ensures smooth, consistent flow of forage into Deere’s MaxD bale chamber to produce more uniform bale size and density for improved storage and handling.
Streamlined Baling
The new C-Series Combination Balers feature Deere’s new film wrapping system. Rather than releasing bales to the ground, these balers transfer the bales to the adjoining wrap area on the attached transport table where they are completely film wrapped to seal out oxygen and protect forage. According to Deere, the lightweight collapsing tailgate and moving side panels enable bales to move from the bale chamber to the transfer table to be wrapped in less than five seconds with a total time from ejection from the bale chamber to wrapping to ground delivery at 37 seconds. The C451R model can produce 4- x 5-foot (122 x 152 cm) bales and the C461R model produces bales up to 4- x 6-foot (122 x 183 cm) in size. Operators can continue feeding material into the baling chamber while the first bale is being wrapped and released. From the cab, operators can customize their bale settings including bale size and density along with the number of layers of wrap that will be used. Operators can also choose where to drop the bale or select one of two automatic drop options.
"These new John Deere combination balers offer producers the ability to bale and wrap more bales per hour because of their harvesting capacity and speed of operation," John Deere Tactical Marketing Manager for Hay Tools Nick Weinrich explains. "More importantly, these machines provide high-quality, more uniform forage, with less waste and improved feed values." The company says the new models can produce and wrap up to 60 bales per hour.
