Vermeer Offers Versatility With Its Latest Round Balers, The 604R Series
Finding the right baler can be a challenge. Some producers want simplicity while others favor smart features, high speed, and maximum output. Vermeer says that’s why it created the new 604 R-series balers to include a range of features, components, and options. The balers come in three 6- x 4-foot (1.8- x 1.2-meter) models—Classic, Signature, and Premium—and offer unique combinations that Vermeer says will meet the needs of just about every hay producer. The 604 R-series balers start with a common foundation the company says offers longevity and durability, including a camless pickup and rotor design, a hydraulic density system, and a new netwrap system.
“The 604 R-series balers were designed to provide the features and functions that every hay producer needs,” says Vermeer Director of Sales Bret Julian. “Our customers have a wide range of needs in the field, and with the new 604 R-series, they have options to find what will be the best baler to fit their operations.”
The Classic
Vermeer says this model was designed for the small- to mid-sized forage producer who wants minimal setup and horsepower requirements. The Classic has user-friendly controls, offers either netwrap or twine options, and comes at an economical price.
The Signature
In addition to moisture sensors and the ability to monitor bale shape, density, and net tension, an Atlas Pro control system with a 7-inch in-cab monitor provides the 604R Signature operator real-time production information, field statistics, and diagnostic data in the field, says Vermeer. The company adds that it is well-suited for both dry and wet hay and is available with an optional silage kit.
The Premium
This model has the ability to make hay 19% faster than the Signature and produce bales 30% denser compared to the 604R Signature and Classic balers, says Vermeer. The Premium features a net lift system which allows operators to carry the roll from either the truck or ground into the netwrap system using an electric thumb control. The company says the new auto-eject eliminates two steps in the baling process.
