John Deere Announces New 8 Family Tractor Lineup Featuring Four-Track 8RX Model
The “next leap forward in tractor innovation,” says John Deere, is its new 8RX tractor, part of the new 8 Family Tractor lineup and the “industry’s first fixed-frame four-track” tractor. For the new lineup, which also includes 8R wheel and 8RT two-track models, Deere says it drew on 100-plus years of tractor expertise. With “more power, versatility, and durability” than previous 8 Series generations and numerous integrated precision-ag technologies and Deere’s “most spacious, comfortable cab” ever, the 8 Family tractor models are the “high-horsepower row-crop tractors to lead us into the next 100 years,” Deere says.
Not A Bolt-On Solution
Deere says pricing information will be available in December and 8 Family Tractor shipments will begin next summer. The series will include models ranging from 230 to 410 horsepower and will offer plenty of options. 8R models, for example, will variously be available with Deere’s e23 PowerShift transmission or IVT (Infinitely Variable Transmission). Customers opting for the IVT and optional CommandPRO ergonomic multifunction controller with 11 reconfigurable buttons can expect “powerful, smooth, efficient tractor control.” Only the family-topping 8R/8RT/8RX 410 model omits the IVT option. Other series models include the 230, 250, 280, 310, 340, and 370.
The new 8RX four-track model, Deere says, offers the turning characteristics of wheel tractors but pulling performance of tracks. “We didn't just add tracks to an 8R Tractor,” says John Deere Marketing Manager Tammy Lee. “This is a fully engineered John Deere four-track solution, not a bolt-on aftermarket product.” Four tread-spacing options from 76 to 120 inches (193 to 305 centimeters) and three belt widths from 18 to 30 inches (45.7 to 76.2 centimeters) will be available.
Precision & Space
Deere says each 8 Family Tractor will leave the factory “fully integrated, fully capable, and fully supported with the latest technology.” All models will come standard with a Gen 4 4600 CommandCenter display, StarFire 6000 integrated receiver, and AutoTrac activation. A Precision Ag Intelligence package, meanwhile, provides “seamless integration of automation, documentation, and connectivity” via the John Deere Operations Center. Five years of JDLink service, John Deere Connected Support, Expert Alerts, Remote Display Access, and wireless data transfer are included. Lee says each model “is precision-ag equipped to prepare precise seedbeds, handle variable-rate seeding, and manage fertilizer prescriptions, all at up to 10 mph (16 km/h)."
