Less Is More For John Deere 1745 MaxEmerge 5 Planter

Featuring a foldable design for transport on narrow roads, John Deere's new 1745 MaxEmerge 5 Planter is an economic choice for corn and soybean farmers who require planter-applied fertilizer and split-row options on small fields. Deere says the 1745’s relatively simple design makes it compatible with older tractors, including models with as little as 95 drawbar horsepower (70 db kilowatts). For instance, John Deere says it tested on a 4440, which was built from 1977 to 1982.

    Split Row Choices

John Deere will be taking orders on the 1745 MaxEmerge 5 Planter beginning in June with shipments expected to begin this fall. Customers can choose between an eight-row, 30-inch (76-centimeter) configuration or a 15-row, 15-in (38-cm) configuration for the 1745 Planter. For commodity storage, the 1745 Planter supports three options, including 1.6- and 3-bushel row hoppers or mini hoppers with the 50-bushel John Deere CCS central fill seed delivery system. Operators looking to reduce seed costs can also fit the 1745 with John Deere’s RowCommand individual-row control technology, which Deere says provides savings of up to 4.3%. The planter’s compact design when folded fits within the duals of the tractor to allow for narrow transport that also comes in at under 13 feet (3.9 meters) high.

    You Asked, Deere Listened

“Customers told us they want to be able to apply dry or liquid fertilizer while planting corn, a technique that can boost yields by approximately 10 bushels per acre when compared to the conventional method of broadcasting nitrogen fertilizer," says Ryan Hough, marketing manager, planting and seeding for John Deere. "The 1745 Planter addresses these requirements. It's simple, productive, and efficient, and it can be configured and equipped many ways to help customers reduce their input costs."
