New Holland Says Its BigBaler 340 High Density Can Produce 22% Denser Bales
Attendees at the recent World Ag Expo got the first look at New Holland’s latest large square baler, the BigBaler 340 High Density. As you might guess from its name, this large square baler was specifically developed for high-density baling; New Holland says it provides 22% greater density compared to conventional large square balers. The baler achieves this by combining the company’s existing CropCutter system and pre-compression chamber technology with a longer bale chamber and a plunger force that’s as much as 58% higher than that of New Holland’s Plus models.
Efficiency Gains
The BigBaler 340 High Density boasts several other technologies that build upon the baler’s high-density capabilities. New Holland adds its MaxiSweep pickup that allows for smoother and more accurate intake at higher speeds, which is said to increase both capacity and performance. The BigBaler 340 High Density also features a higher rotor speed than New Holland’s Plus model, further increasing baling efficiency in the field by creating fewer bales per field and more tons per trailer. “This new baler sets new standards in efficiency and productivity, delivering greater profitability by maximizing bale weight and reducing handling and transport costs,” says Simon Nichol, global hay and forage product management for New Holland.
New Operator Features Too
The large square baler also introduces New Holland customers to the SmartShift gearbox, which won an Agritechnica Silver Medal and provides a soft start-up for overload protection and greater operator comfort. New Holland also includes a range of automated features, such as the IntelliCruise technology system that automatically adjusts tractor speed. The baler’s hydraulic suspension system is also said to improve weight distribution and ground following while simplifying maintenance access. As Nichol notes, “It is ideal for the professional baling contractor and large-scale farmer who will enjoy the profitability benefits resulting from higher productivity and lower total cost of ownership.”
