Electronic Throttle Control On New Ferris ISX 3300 ETC Ensures A Quality Cut
Ferris recently introduced two new models of its ISX 3300 zero-turn mower series with electronic throttle control (ETC) to improve cutting performance when mowing long, dense, and wet grass. The ISX 3300 ETC models are powered by the Vanguard BIG BLOCK EFI ETC engine that reacts to the applied load from the environment and maintains power during periods of high demand.
How ETC Works
Vanguard’s new ETC technology uses a flywheel speed sensor to detect any change in speed and sends a signal to the throttle body, allowing the engine to harness more power for a more consistent blade tip speed. “We’re excited to offer Ferris customers another opportunity to benefit from Vanguard’s superior performance and durability by powering the ISX 3300 with our most intuitive engine yet,” says Chris Davison, senior marketing manager, Vanguard commercial power, Briggs & Stratton. Vanguard’s electronic fuel injection (EFI) technology also improves starting on the ISX 3300 in all temperatures and performance at all elevations.
The Ferris Suspension System
Similar to other models in the ISX 3300 series, the ISX 3300 ETC features Ferris’ powersport-inspired Forefront Suspension System with four solid control rods and hardened radial ends. The resulting front suspension geometry eliminates caster chatter, according to Briggs & Stratton, ensuring the front casters remain in the ideal orientation throughout the entire range of suspension travel to improve the ride and quality of the cut. The new Ferris mowers also feature dual-rate coil springs to resist component motion and allow the operator to select from five-position adjustments for conditions, user preference, and attachments.
