John Deere Reduces AutoTrac Guidance Installation Requirements, Introduces 5R & 6M Tractor Transmission Options
John Deere now offers a corner post display with built-in support for its AutoTrac hands-free steering option in its new 5R and 6M utility tractors. This reduces the number of displays needed to use the labor-saving, automated GPS guidance system. AutoTrac requires a John Deere StarFire Receiver and activation.
“Integrating AutoTrac on the corner post display gives you an affordable and simple way to use straight-line guidance without needing to buy a separate display,” says John Deere Marketing Manager Lyle McMillan. “However, if you want more advanced guidance capabilities for your tractor, and if you want to add precision ag solutions like Section Control and on-screen mapping, other John Deere displays and activations can be purchased.”
New Options For The 5R
John Deere also announced the availability of several new features for its 5R tractors. A 16/16 CommandQuad automatic is now among its transmission options. Larger tires are also on the menu, with new 540/65R38 or 600/65R34 sizes offering reduced soil compaction and greater load-bearing capacity. “These tires are made with low-angle lugs at the shoulder area to improve traction and higher angles around the center line to improve ride comfort,” McMillan says. Finally, the 5R can be ordered with Category II hook-style draft links and center link for implements without a quick hitch.
The 5R Series of John Deere utility tractors spans the 90- to 125-horsepower (66- to 93-kilowatt) segment. The 5R comes with four-wheel drive and a cab. Its models include the 5090R, 5100R, 5115R, and 5125R, so named for their horsepower ratings.
The 6M’s IVT, High-Output Pump Options
An infinitely variable transmission (IVT) is a new option for 6M tractors. The precise IVT comes with the AutoClutch feature, allowing the tractor to be stopped without engaging the clutch. A larger, high-flow hydraulic pump option is also available to power large implements.
The John Deere 6M utility tractors’ eight model numbers also track with their HP ratings, from the 110-HP (82-kW) 6110M up to the 195-HP (145-kW) 6195M. The 6M family encompasses four different frames, but all feature shorter wheelbases and tight turning radiuses. Cabs and four-wheel drive availability vary by model. A new front axle suspension improves ride comfort.
