Kuhn North America Introduces New VB 560 Round Baler With Twin-Tensioning Arm System
Kuhn North America recently introduced the new KUHN VB 560 5x6 round baler, which the manufacturer says is among the most efficient balers on the market. The baler is available in 560 TwinCharge, 560 OptiFeed, and 560 OptiCut variants, named for their respective intake solutions. Along with a heavy-duty design and ISOBUS compatibility, the VB 560 employs a twin-tensioning arm system and “the fast tailgate speed” of any 5x6 baler to provide industry-leading cycle times, Kuhn says.
Talking Twin-Tensioning
Kuhn’s hay and forage equipment lineup also includes large square balers, mowers, mower conditioners, rakes, mergers, tedders, and wrappers. The company’s round baler family also includes FB, VB 3100, and VBP 3165 BalePack options. All the variants of the new VB 560 produce 5- x 6-foot (1.56- x 1.85-meter) bales, but the versions differ in that the TwinCharge option has a 110-horsepower (82-kilowatt) PTO power requirement, the OptiFeed a 120-hp (88-kw) requirement, and the OptiCut a 130-hp (95-kw) requirement.
Along with creating “rock-solid bales” that hold their shape for more efficient transport and storage, Kuhn says the VB 560 twin-tensioning arm system offers the productivity needed to put up high-quality hay in tight weather windows. The new baler also implements a new loading support bracket for the front net wrap system, and enables baler control via a tractor’s ISOBUS terminal or a KUHN CCI 50, 800, or 120 terminal.
Intake Variations
Kuhn says the TwinCharge model excels at high-capacity, high-productivity applications when baling straw, corn stalks, or soybean stubble. The OptiFeed system handles anything from silage to dry hay and straw, and the “no-compromise” OptiCut’s 19-knife system can process the crop down to 2.8 inches (7 cm) while still baling at high capacities.
