AGCO Highlights Soil Compaction-Reducing Merits Of New Fendt 900 MT Tractors

AGCO has been expanding its Fendt tractor family in North America in recent weeks with the arrival of its new 300 Vario, 700 Gen 6, 900 Vario MT, and 1100 Vario MT series. This week, AGCO provided more details about the 900 Vario MT lineup, which includes 380-horsepower (279-kilowatt) 938 MT, 405-hp (298-kw) 940 MT, and 431-hp (317-kw) 943 MT models. All use AGCO’s patented Mobil-trac system, and an AGCO Power 9.8-liter, seven-cylinder engine with the Fendt CAS (Concentric Air System) to enhance cooling efficiency and extend engine life.

    Experience Worth Tracking

AGCO says it will continue to offer the MT700 and MT800 track tractors from its Challenger brand to appeal to North American farmers’ diverse needs. The Fendt 900 Vario MT models, however, combine AGCO’s experience in installing than a quarter-million Vario continuously variable transmissions and 30-plus years’ experience with tracked tractors. AGCO pairs the VarioDrive transmission with Fendt iD low-rev engine technology to provide 1,500 pounds-foot (2,033 newton-meters) torque at 1,100 rpm for enhanced fuel efficiency.

The Mobil-trac system includes track styles in six widths ranging from 16 to 34 inches (40.6 to 86.4 centimeters), incorporates a long wheelbase for added stability, enlists a steel hardbar that acts as a front axle, and provides up to 11 degrees of oscillation to reduce compaction.

In addition to using its VarioDrive continuously variable transmission, AGCO’s new Fendt 900 Vario MT tractor series makes use of the manufacturer’s patented Mobil-trac system, which provides what AGCO says is “unmatched track-to-ground contact.” (Photo courtesy of AGCO.)

“The Smart Ride system combines oscillating mid wheels, hardbar suspension, and cab suspension, giving operators great ride quality without sacrificing the in-field benefits of power, control, and traction,” says AGCO Strategic Marketing Manager Tom Turner.

    Hydraulics & Smart Farming Tech

Other features include a Fendt-exclusive dual pump, a dual-circuit hydraulic system that delivers up to 116 gallons (440 liters) per minute hydraulic oil flow and enables operators to connect implements based on oil pressure and high- or low-flow requirements. A single hydraulic pump providing 58 gpm (219 l/m) at 1,700 rpm is also available. There’s also a 10.4-inch Varioterminal touchscreen and support for Fendt’s Connect telemetry solution and Smart Connect app, plus VarioGuide, VarioDoc, Variotronic, and other automation technologies.
