Massey Ferguson has unveiled five new 1800E and 2800E Series compact tractors, ranging from 24 to 57.3 horsepower (17.9 to 42.7 kilowatts). The manufacturer says the new compacts replace the 1700E and 2700E Series tractors and are designed for acreage owners, municipality equipment managers, livestock producers, landscapers, hobby farmers, commercial contractors, and others seeking an economical option. The tractors come equipped with Tier IV Final Iseki diesel engine, an open operator station, intuitive controls designed for beginning operators, and new hood styling and decals. Their dual-pump, high-flow hydraulic system provides 18% greater capacity vs. the previous generation.

    “No-Nonsense Workhorses”

The new lineup includes the 1825E (24 hp), 1835E (34.5 hp; 25.7 kW), and 1840E (39.4 hp; 29.4 kW), plus the larger-chassis 2850E (48.8 hp; 36.4 kW) and 2860E (57.3hp; 42.7kW). The 1800E tractors have a Category I rear 3-point hitch, and the 2800E models equip a Category I/II 3-point hitch with 2,425-pound (1,100-kilogram) lift capacity. All models include a 540-rpm rear power take-off (PTO). Depending on the model, operators can attach Massey Ferguson FL Series loaders and BH and CB backhoes, and a third-function control enables the use of skid-steer attachments and 4-in-1 buckets.

AGCO Tactical Marketing Manager Jeffrey Ratliff says the new tractors offer power, easy operation, and down-to-earth pricing. “Plus, these heavy-duty, no-nonsense workhorses provide capabilities you might only expect from larger-horsepower utility tractors,” he says.

Massey Ferguson says the tractors’ cast steel rear end, cast front axle, hydraulics, and attachment/implement support make them well-suited to tasks such as round bale transport, skidding logs, and moving gravel and other bulk materials.

    Transmission & Styling

The 1800E and 2700E Series compacts include a standard 8F/8R Synchro Shuttle mechanical gear transmission with working and transport speeds from 0.8 to 16.6 mph (1.4 to 26.8 km/h) depending on tire size and type. Massey Ferguson says the transmission is ideal for mowing, rotary tilling, and similar jobs where maintaining a consistent speed is a must, and the forward/reverse mechanical shuttle shift makes loader chores easier. Buyers who prefer it can opt instead for a three-range hydrostatic transmission.
