John Deere 8 Series Tractor Updates Give Farmers More Options
John Deere recently announced updates to its 8 Series tractors for model year 2022, including the wheel 8R, two-track 8RT, and four-track 8RX. The updates cover planting, tillage, transportation, and more. The Wheel 8R tractors are available in seven variants ranging from 230 to 410 horsepower (171 to 305 kilowatts). The 8RT comes in four models with a horsepower range of 310 (231 kW) to 410, and the four-track 8RX has four models also ranging from 310 to 410 HP. Transmission options for Deere’s 8 Series tractors include a 16-speed PowerShift, an e23 PowerShift, or an Infinitely Variable Transmission, depending on the model. The model year 2022 8 Series will be available for order in late spring 2021.
Central Tire Inflation System
On 8R tractors equipped with Independent Link Suspension, the Central Tire Inflation System will increase air pressure in tires to reduce tire wear and improve ride quality and handling when the Road setting is selected. When set to the Field setting, the CTIS will decrease the air pressure to create a larger footprint to reduce slip and ground pressure.
ExactRate Tractor Tanks
John Deere’s new integrated 1,000-gallon ExactRate tanks facilitate fertilizer application for up to 80 acres per fill when used on the 8RX tractor along with a John Deere planter with a 600-gallon tank, reducing the need to stop for refills or add external commodity tanks. For improved flotation, growers can pair the 8RX equipped with ExactRate Tractor Tanks with a planter on tracks to maintain ground pressure under 15 psi.
JDLink Connectivity
Series 8 tractors are all equipped with JDLink connectivity and an integrated StarFire 6000 GPS receiver, Generation 4 CommandCenter display, and AutoTrac guidance. These technologies enable machine-to-machine communication and the streaming of machine, field, and crop information to the John Deere Operations Center and to John Deere Connected Support.
