Case IH recently announced the availability of its new AFS Connect Optum 270 and 300 tractors, which come with the manufacturer’s AFS Connect precision ag technology factory-installed and ready to work. The onboard AFS package includes Case IH’s sophisticated steering system, telematics and vehicle interface solutions, sensors and connected tools for farm management, and the AFS Pro 1200 display, which provides ready access to agronomic data, guidance lines, and prescription maps, and facilitates wireless transfer of related files.

    All-Purpose Tractors

Optum tractors are designed to serve as versatile, powerful farm tractors, and the 270 and 300 are no exception.

“These tractors can deliver the muscle and horsepower that are needed on the road or in the field, along with advancements meant to make the operator’s day spent in the cab more comfortable,” says Case IH Mid-range Tractor Marketing Manager J.E. Cadle.

Both models feature a 6.7-litre, Tier 4 and Stage V-compliant engine with the requisite PTO power for tilling, planting, and seeding implements. Case IH’s CVXDrive variable transmission also helps with power transfer, while providing operators with intuitive operation.

    A New Cab

Case IH says the cab on new AFS Connect Optum models offers 11% more glass, a bigger overall windshield and wider doors, and a redesigned A-pillar display. The end result is better overall visibility. The manufacturer also offsets potential additional heat from the increased glass area with an improved air conditioning system, which it says cools down the cab 35% faster.

To improve driver comfort and tractor stability, the AFS Connect Optum tractors also feature a seat with semi-active suspension, as well as a suspended front axle and cab. “When you step into the cab, you can tell that this tractor will keep you comfortable all day with important features that will help drive efficiency and productivity,” Cadle says.
