Case IH’s VT-Flex 435 Vertical Tillage Tool To Offer Seasonal Versatility, In-Cab Adjustments
The VT-Flex 435 vertical tillage tool from Case IH is designed to adjust easily to a broad range of soil management techniques in both spring and fall. The durable tiller is available in 11-, 15-, 20-, 23-, or 25-foot (3.3-, 4.5-, 6.1-, 7.0-, or 7.6-meter) widths for tractors of 65 to 250 horsepower (48.5 to 186 kilowatts).
“We’re hearing that producers are looking to vary their residue coverage between seasons or accommodate conservation tillage practices,” says Case IH Tillage Marketing Manager Chris Lursen. “The VT-Flex 435 vertical tillage tool allows just that. One-degree gang angles allow for efficient slicing of residue, while more aggressive angles up to 12 degrees allow for variable levels of residue mixing. Whether a producer is looking to size residue and preserve soils—or mix even the most stubborn crop residue—effective field preparation is made simple with fast, easy gang angle adjustments.”
Case IH says the VT-Flex 435 is a good match for mixed farms and small to midsize grain operations. It will become available in fall 2022.
Gang Angle Adjustability
The operator can mechanically adjust the VT-Flex 435’s gang angles from zero to 12 degrees to achieve the desired field finish. Optional hydraulic gang angle adjustments are available on 15- to 25-foot models. From the cab of the tractor, a hydraulically equipped VT-Flex 435 lets the user change gang angles on the go at speeds of 6 to 9 mph (9.7 to 14.5 km/h), and even adjust the front and rear gangs separately for a particular finish and level of residue coverage.
The VT-Flex 435 features single-point hydraulic depth control of 1 to 4 inches (25.4 to 101.6 millimeters) for various field conditions. Its 20-in. (508-mm), Earth Metal VT wave blades have flat, crimped blade centers for strength. The fluted blades can cut residue even at shallow gang angles for effective mixture with the soil.
Case IH will equip the VT-Flex 435 with a TigerPaw Crumbler roller to distribute residue and produce uniform clod sizes. The roller features a spring down-pressure design and formed bars for extra strength. The main frame and wings of the VT-Flex 435 rest on a walking tandem to balance and stabilize the tiller with optimal depth control without compacting the soil.
Rugged In All Conditions
Case IH gave the VT-Flex 435 a front T–hitch design for a tight turning circle. The tool has a 13.6-ft (4.1-m) transport width when stowed for travel. The manufacturer builds the VT-Flex 435 with cast-iron nodular spools and large arbor bolts for durability, along with a resilient powder coat paint finish.
“Producers can rest easy knowing that everything from the blades to the bolts have been designed to withstand the toughest conditions and deliver the best return on investment,” Lursen says.
