JCB is updating the operator environment on its Fastrac 4000 and 8000 Series tractors with completely new Fastrac iCon controls and technology. iCon lets operators customize how they operate the tractor, making it easier to keep tabs on precision agriculture technology, and improving powertrain efficiency and tractor functionality. The new iCon features can be found on JCB Fastrac 4000 and 8000 tractors with anywhere from 220 to 348 horsepower (164 to 260 kilowatts).

“Creating a fully customizable experience was a top priority for JCB with the Fastrac iCon. In addition, our engineering team worked hard to integrate electronics technology such as ISOBUS and GPS guidance along with refining the driving comfort that the Fastrac offers,” says Shane Coates, vice president of agricultural sales for JCB. “At the same time, we wanted operators to have a familiar experience in terms of the controls and information displays to ensure existing users can quickly adapt to the new system.”

    iCon Armrest Console

iCon-enabled tractors feature a seat-mounted armrest console and 12-inch touchscreen display. The console includes a main joystick with five buttons where hydraulic functions can be assigned, as well as a four-way auxiliary joystick with four buttons and a rocker switch. Color-coded LED switches are available to identify which spool valve is assigned to given control. There are also dedicated PTO and hitch controls, hard keys, and a display navigation dial for operators who don’t want to use the touchscreen display. Current Fastrac tractor owners are likely familiar with the screen layout that lets operators swipe left or right to access essential machine controls.

    iConnect Precision Ag Technology

The all-new electronics architecture on the Fastrac 4000 and 8000 tractors allows for ISOBUS implement control via the touchscreen, and operators can also assign ISOBUS functions to the joysticks. The new Fastrac tractors can fully integrate with JCB GPS and other precision ag technology.

    iControl Smart Transmission

JCB’s new Smart Transmission Control lets operators set a speed, and the Fastrac tractor will accordingly balance the engine speed and gear ratio based on the load. In addition to this speed-based system, operators no longer need preselect if they are using the joystick or pedal for control. These options are automatically turned on when the controls are used.
