Toro recently introduced a new, high-performance GrandStand HDX stand-on commercial mower for 2023 that’s available with 52-, 60-, and 72-inch (132-, 152-, and 183-centimeter) three-blade decks. The 52- and 60-in. configurations are powered by a 31-horsepower (23-kilowatt) 999-cc Kawasaki FX921 engine. For at lawncare pros seeking more power, a 37-hp (27.5-kW) Briggs & Stratton Vanguard 993-cc EFI engine is available in versions with a 60- and 72-in. deck. All GrandStand HDX mowers have a space-saving flip-up operator platform, and all can reach a top speed of 12 mph (19.3 km/h).

    Ready For The Pros

Toro says the GrandStand HDX, which debuted at Equip Expo 2022, provides a winning combination of zero-turn speed and comfort with a walk-behind’s ease of use. Customers who opt for a version with the higher-powered Vanguard engine will additionally benefit from its Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) and Vanguard Oil Guard System, which stretches oil change intervals to 500 hours and results in a 60% savings on maintenance costs.

Other features of note include enhanced dual-capture anti-scalp roller supports and the warranty-backed, 7-guage Turbo Force 2 cutting deck, which boasts an I-beam front end and adjustable, toolless deck baffle. The mower offers adjustable cut heights from 1.5 to 5 in. (3.8 to 12.7 cm) in 0.25-in. (0.64-cm) increments. The operator platform, meanwhile, provides plenty of standing room, a self-adjusting suspension, and sloped sides for greater stability on sloped terrain. The mower also comes equipped with large 24-in. (61-cm) tires, reverse speeds up to 5 mph (8 km/h) reverse ground speed, and big 10.5-gallon (39.7-liter) gas tank.

    On The Horizon

The GrandStand HDX comes with Toro’s Horizon360 business management software for landscape contractors, which includes tools for managing employees and equipment, maintaining customer data, tracking assets, managing budgets, creating bids, and more. For 2023, Horizon360 gains a customer relationship management (CRM) tool that lets contractors automate client communications, and a new online payment tool for easy invoicing.
