John Deere Unveils New 5ML Series Of High-Power Narrow Tractors With Precision Farming Tech
John Deere recently announced its new 5ML Series of narrow tractors with a maximum out of 134 horsepower (98.5 kilowatts). The new tractors are equipped with features to enhance safety and comfort are available with an optional precision farming technology package to manage specialty crops. Deere says the new tractors will be available beginning in January.
About The 5ML Series
The 5ML Series is John Deere’s most powerful narrow tractor line and offers a comprehensive technology package to increase efficiency in specialty crop work. The AutoTrac guidance system is integrated in the tractors’ dashboard to eliminate the need for an additional display. The Gen 4 display is available as an option to monitor and document the tractor’s work and can transfer data to the John Deere Operations Center. The 1ClickGo AutoSetup allows operators to create settings for documentation and execution of tasks. Then, once the tractor enters the corresponding field, the previously defined job appears on the display and all the driver has to do is confirm the task and begin work.
The tractors can also be connected to software applications from partner companies through the John Deere Operations Center. Owners can give consent to allow machine data to be analyzed remotely by John Deere’s Connected Support. The local John Deere dealer is then automatically notified when an issue is detected and will contact the customer to discuss the issue and schedule any needed repairs or maintenance, often before a malfunction happens, to increase uptime.
Small But Mighty
The narrow tractor line’s flagship model, the 5130ML, is powered by a 4.5-liter four-cylinder John Deere PowerTech Plus engine with a torque rise of 30% and a maximum output of 134 HP. Deere equips the tractor with a mechanical PowerQuad Plus transmission. The tractor has a hydraulic output of 117 liters per minute (31 gallons per minute) and doesn’t need an externally power take-off (PTO)-driven hydraulic pump to operate implements with high hydraulic power requirements. The 5ML has a lift capacity of 10,803 pounds (4,900 kilograms) at the ball ends of the rear hydraulics, a front hydraulics capacity of 6,393 lbs (2,900 kg), and a payload of 7,716 pounds (3,500 kg).
Cab Safety & Comfort
In the cab, operators have an electronic joystick and large LCD dashboard display to monitor settings and easily control implements. The iTec headland management function automates headland turns and related implement actions. The cab can optionally be equipped with an EN 15695-compliant category 4 filtration system integrated into the roof to protect against hazardous dust, aerosols, and vapors.
