John Deere recently announced the new C-Series air cart line, which offers a range of capacities and configurations combined with new features and technologies that the company says reduce maintenance and improve accuracy.

“With all of these new features, farming operations of all sizes can benefit from the latest air cart technologies with multiple machine formats,” says Anthony Styczinski, John Deere go-to-market manager for planters and seeders.

John Deere C-Series Air Cart Capabilities

The air carts have corrosion-resistant AccuRate stainless steel electronically controlled meters, the EZCal calibration system, and the ActiveCal in-cab calibration system. Operators can also use the carts’ tank scales to monitor how many acres are left. The AccuRate meter bank has up to eight individually controlled meters per tank, which can be adjusted for speed and volume.

“On average, customers replace their standard meters approximately every three years,” Styczinski says. “For a 4-tank cart, that replacement cost could be $50,000 or more, saving you money right from the start.”

The EZCal system is a push-button calibration system that is up to 75% faster than the manual bag calibration system and saves the operator time and energy from walking to the cart and having to crawl under it to adjust the calibration.

With blower automation on all new C-Series air carts, operators can set a target blower speed from the cab and the system will maintain and adjust speed according to conditions throughout the day.

“This kind of technology is a big help for newer, less experienced operators,” Styczinski says. “Features like these allow the operator to focus on the seeding task at hand without having to worry as much about calibration or blower adjustment.”

    Multiple Options

The C-Series offer six capacities ranging from 350 to 850 bushels (12,300 to 30,000 liters) with all but one coming in both leading and trailing options. The C850T is the exception with only a trailing option. The new C-Series models and their capacities, configurations, and tank splits include: C350L/C350T: 350 bushels (160/190 bu), leading and trailing

    • C400L/C400T: 400 bushels (160/50/190 bu), leading and trailing
    • C500L/C500T: 500 bushels (190/90/220 bu), leading and trailing
    • C550L/C550T: 550 bushels (190/90/50/220 bu), leading and trailing
    • C650L/C650T: 650 bushels (50/260/130/210 bu), leading and trailing
    • C850T: 850 bushels (50/260/130/410 bu), trailing only
