New Holland recently announced the 2025 FR Forage Cruiser self-propelled forage harvester, with multiple upgrades for speedier turns in headlands, greater operator comfort and productivity, and a reduced risk of blockages. The latter is due to a new, industry-first blockage detection and prevention system that the company says is an industry first.

    Radar-Sensing Prevention

New Holland developed the blockage detection and prevention system at its forage harvester Center of Excellence in Zedelgem, Belgium. The system employs a spout-mounted radar sensor that tracks crop flow as it exits the FR Forage Cruiser. The sensor identifies any changes in flow rate in relation to the machine’s forward speed.

New Holland says using the system as advised can potentially curtail problematic, time-consuming blockages, improving overall harvest efficiency and helping instill confidence in less-experienced operators.

The 2025 FR Forage Cruiser Lineup

New Holland’s self-propelled forage harvester family includes four models that will be available in 2025. Depending on the model, the machines are powered by an FPT Cursor 1, Cursor 16, or V20 power plant. Engine power ratings range from 544 to 911 maximum horsepower (405 to 679 kilowatts).

Operators can select between Power Cruise II and ECO Engine Management automatic driving modes or use them in conjunction with one another. New Holland says Power Cruise II automatically adapts engine and ground speed to the load and can reduce fuel consumption by up to 15%. ECO mode offers a high range for setting the engine speed between 1,950 and 2,100 rpm, ideal for chopping hay, and a low range for setting the engine speed between 1,700 and 1,850 rpm, well-suited for corn.

Buyers can pair the harvesters with new Pro Series row-independent corn headers available in 6-, 8-, 10-, and 12-row variants. Header options range from a 6-disc small drum head to a 12-disc big drum head.

    Climb Into The Cab

Thanks to numerous cab refinements for 2025, you can expect more space, improved visibility, enhanced comfort, and a quieter working environment. Compared to the previous cab, New Holland says there’s 12.5% more floor space, 2.36 inches (6 centimeters) more seat travel, and additional storage space. Dual-layer windows and more sound-dampening materials reduce noise by 2.5 decibels.

Buyers have multiple operator and instruction seat options and can look forward to a revised right-hand console layout and an upgraded multifunction CommandGrip handle. The handle requires less force to move and provides more precise speed control.

    Intelligent Technologies

The cab also includes the IntelliView IV Plus touchscreen display; it’s nearly 2 in. larger than the previous display and provides quicker boot-ups and improved visibility and graphics. Those customers planning to use mapping, guidance, and IntelliFill automatic trailer-filling technologies will need to add a second display to manage those tasks.

Available precision farming technologies include an updated version of NutriSense, crop-analysis technology that enables users to visualize crop moisture and other nutrient data collected in the field and use it to help make more informed crop management and selling decisions. NutriSense is now a factory-installed option included in the new all-in-one FieldOps farm data management web and mobile platform.
