New Kuhn Krause 5640 Field Cultivator Built To Boost Yields
Kuhn recently introduced the 5640 field cultivator, which features improved depth control, clod sizing, and leveling. The cultivator is designed for increased productivity and a high residue capacity and is available in working widths of 56.5 and 60.5 feet (17.2 and 18.4 meters).
About The Kuhn Krause 5640
Despite the 5640 cultivator’s big working widths, it easily folds up to just 17.7 ft (5.4 m) wide for transport from field to field. Hydraulic positive stop depth control, which allows the operator to adjust the depth of each section independently, is a standard feature.
The 5640 also has Kuhn’s floating hitch, which lifts the gauge wheels during transport to improve stability and eliminate castor wobble. Kuhn opted to retain the cultivator’s 139-inch (3,53-centimeter) depth of the frame for high volumes of residue. Operators can choose between spring or K-Tine mounts fitted with edge-on or flat shanks according to soil and residue conditions.
Better Design, Better Results
The floating hitch gauges the tillage depth on rolling terrain for uniform crop emergence. Traditional hitch systems can’t adapt to such terrain, so seeds are too deep or shallow, creating irregular seedling emergence.
The 24/7 leveling system has six configurations of leveling attachments. It includes a new anti-tangle 5-row spike-tooth harrow and an optional new hydraulic reel lift to enable continuous operation in heavy residue and wet field conditions.
The field cultivator has five rows of shanks spaced at 6 in. (15.2 cm) with a split-in-the-middle pattern for better residue flow and thorough weed removal.
