All-New Claas Jaguar 1000 Series Forage Harvesters Bring A Big Bite
To develop its all-new Jaguar 1000 Series forage harvester, Claas took to heart feedback from North American customers requesting greater capacity, less downtime, better spout flexibility, and less maintenance. The result is a recently unveiled machine that Claas says is the market’s most capable forage harvester.
No Ordinary Tweak
Among the Jaguar 1000’s impressive performance capabilities is a 20% bump in throughput capacity (up to 500 tons, or 454 metric tons, per hour) over the previous Jaguar 990.
“We didn't just tweak the old platform—we reimagined everything,” says Claas of America Product Manager Matt Jaynes. “These machines feature a truly ground-up engineering approach, with wider crop flow, a more intelligent drive system, and significant advancements in chop quality and cab comfort.”
Model Lineup & Header Options
The Jaguar 1000 Series comprises the 1080, 1090, 1100, and 1200 models. They’re available with new Pick Up and Orbis headers with built-in independent variable drives. The headers include the 12-foot (3.7-meter) Pick Up 3800 and 15-ft (4.6-m) 4500 units for grass and hay crops, and the 30-ft (9.1-m) Orbis 9000 and 35-ft (10.7-m) 10500 heads for corn.
All Jaguar 1000 harvesters are powered by transversely mounted 24-liter V12 Man engines that, depending on the model, generate 850 to 1,110 horsepower (625 to 816 kilowatts). Claas says its Cemos Auto Performance technology and all-wheel-drive capability allow for intelligent engine load management that helps the Jaguar 1000 make real-time performance adjustments as field conditions change.
Core Upgrades
Claas claims the Jaguar 1000 has the market’s widest crop flow channel, with a new pre-compression system and four pre-compression rollers. These feed a wider 36-inch (91-centimeter) V-Flex knife drum available in 20-, 24-, 28-, and 36-knife configurations for differing cutting lengths.
Also pitching in is the 12.2-in. (31-cm)-diameter Multi Crop Cracker XL roller conditioning system, available in Classic and Shredlage versions that add 40% or 50% faster processing speeds, respectively. Claas says the upgrades and Man engine work together, resulting in faster processing, more uniform feeding, and consistent chopping—with reduced wear over time.
“With this machine, everything is designed to move more crop, more efficiently, front to back, start to finish,” says Jaynes. “Our belt-driven system keeps losses around 1%, giving operators more usable power where it counts—at the drum.”
“Our Quietest Cab Ever”
Claas redesigned the Jaguar 1000’s cab, optimizing it for forage harvesting. The cab is mounted on silent blocks to minimize noise and vibration and is equipped with a premium heated leather seat, large windows for enhanced visibility, and a host of available assistance systems.
Examples include Auto Fill, Opti Fill, GPS Pilot, Dynamic Steering, and Nutrimeter, which uses near-infrared (NIR) technology to provide real-time crop analysis, length-of-cut adjustments, and other functionality.
There’s also an optional steering joystick with programmable function buttons for operators who prefer them.
