Farmers, ranchers, outdoor adventurers, mudding enthusiasts, and others now have the all-new, next-gen 2026 Can-Am Defender HD11 UTV to put to work or play.

Can-Am says the Defender HD11, which is available in six models offering numerous trims and exterior design schemes, is the result of a ground-up overhaul. The HD11 lineup boasts an all-new, more powerful engine and a wider, 65-inch (1,651-millimeter) stance for greater stability, as well as several best-in-class features.

    Built For Long Workdays

Can-Am Off-Road Global Marketing Director Julie Tourville says the company designed the Defender HD11 to keep pace with the long days that farmers, ranchers, builders, and other customers put in.

“From managing farmland, to running a jobsite, or escaping to the backcountry, the new-generation Defender is all about bringing true value to our riders with practical and best-in-class features, industry-leading technology, and reliable performance that they can count on to help them get the job done and beyond,” Tourville says.

    Meet The Lineup

Can-Am lists 10 trims on its website for the Defender HD11 at this writing, including the XT, XT Cab, X MR, Limited, Lone Star, and Lone Star Cab configurations. The company offers all but the Lone Star in standard 3-seat versions and all configurations in 6-seat MAX variants.

Can-Am also returns the previous Defender HD7, HD9, and HD10 models to the Defender lineup for 2026.

An Engine Up To The Task

Every Defender HD11 delivers impressive power thanks to its liquid-cooled HD11 999-cc inline 3-cylinder Rotax ACE engine, rated for 95 horsepower (71 kilowatts) and 70 pounds-foot (95 newton-meters) of torque. The powertrain also boasts an all-new continuously variable transmission (CVT) and a pDrive clutch that Can-Am says enhances low-speed power delivery and improves reliability.

Can-Am also updated the power plant’s cooling system, implemented a new intake system for better airflow, and increased the fuel tank capacity to 11.9 gallons (45 liters), letting you work longer between fill-ups. New driver-selectable Normal, Work, and Sport drive modes optimize engine performance for different tasks and terrains. Additionally, Defender XT buyers benefit from a new Quick-4Lok auto-locking front differential with selectable Turf Mode, 2WD, and 4WD options.

    Leading The Pack

The powertrain isn’t the only “best-in-class” feature the Defender HD11 has in store for customers, according to Can-Am. Buyers can also look forward to a best-in-class cab size, payload, and cargo box, plus 12 in. (305 mm) of front and rear suspension travel and 14 in. (355 mm) of ground clearance.

HD11 owners will also appreciate the suspension system’s 50% larger arched double A-arms, the enhanced rollover protection system (ROPS), and the double-bonded bushings used to assemble the suspension and steering components. Can-Am says the latter is an industry first.

Drivers and passengers can expect better visibility thanks to new LED headlights and taillights, and a more comfortable riding experience due to improved ergonomics and an updated HVAC system. A new charging system for powering accessories, tools, and electronics is also onboard.
