Genie Debuts Z-45 XC Articulated Boom Lift For North America
Genie, a Terex company and global manufacturer of telescopic, articulated, trailer mounted boom lifts, telehandlers, aerial work platforms, and scissor lifts, released its Genie Z-45 XC articulated boom to the North American market in October. The model is an Xtra Capacity version of the company’s rough terrain Genie Z-45/25 J RT diesel articulating boom model and is the company’s first XC articulated boom model. MachineryTrader.com has thousands of new and used Genie aerial access equipment for sale.
Capabilities
With a maximum 51.6-foot working height, 24.9-inch maximum horizontal reach, and 24.7-foot up-and-over clearance, Genie claims the Genie Z-45 XC’s dual-envelop design provides an unrestricted platform capacity of 660 pounds and restricted capacity of 1,000 pounds. The machine can drive at full height at that 660-pound limit.
Applications
In a press release, Marie Engstrom, Genie product manager, Terex AWP, said the Genie Z-45 XC is well-suited for aerial applications on unfinished construction sites, including because it provides operators with a wider range of heavier-lift and access jobs they can complete on rough terrain with one machine. In terms of rough-terrain operations, the Genie Z-45 XC includes Genie’s updated oscillating axle system, which the company states provides the Genie Z-45 XC with up to 45% gradeability on undeveloped jobsites. “The fact that operators will need to reload less often will also help them to save time and work more productively,” she said.
Power, Capacity & Reach
Elsewhere, the Genie Z-45 XC includes a Deutz D2.9L4 48 horsepower engine, can execute zero-load field calibrations, integrates a load sense cell that continually checks the weight on the platform, and is available with Genie’s optional Lift Power generator solution in three options (3kW, 7kW, and 12kW). Genie launched the Z-boom lineup in 1985 with the Genie Z-30/20. The company’s articulated boom lift lineup includes more than a dozen models ranging from 30 to 61 feet in maximum platform height, 440 to 1,000 pounds in maximum platform capacity, 18 to 60 feet in maximum horizontal reach, 12 to 26 feet in maximum up-and-over clearance, and 8 to 20 feet below-ground reach.
