JCB Launches New, Rental-Friendly JZ141 Crawler Excavator
JCB officially introduced its new JZ141 crawler excavator to potential North American customers at the ARA’s (American Rental Association’s) 2018 Rental Show in New Orleans, Louisiana, which takes place from February 18th through February 21st. One of the biggest selling points for the JZ141 is the inclusion of the JCB EcoMAX engine, which offers up to 74 HP (55 kW) while also meeting Tier 4 Final emissions standards.
The engine is unique in this space because it meets those standards with no engine after-treatment, no DEF (diesel engine fluid), and no DPF (diesel particulate filter), which allows it to use traditional engine oils. This launch follows the recent announcement of a canopy option for the company’s Teleskid series of skid steers and compact track loaders, another move designed to make JCB machines a better fit for more types of applications and to make them cost-effective enough for use as rentals.
Intelligent Power
JCB wants to make sure that its machines will work in a wide range of operating environments, which is why it packs as many features it can into each piece of equipment. All of that starts with an engine that is powerful enough to handle anything you can throw it, but also is more fuel-efficient and quieter (98 dB) than other similar models. Reduced noise levels make these machines well suited for use on urban job sites, as well as in neighborhoods with strict noise level restrictions.
The JZ141 is also configured for less tail swing than traditional excavator designs, which means it can safely work in tighter spaces. On the inside of the machine, you’ll find a 7-inch multi-function color display that gives operators easy access to a wealth of information while working on a job site. JCB also took noise levels inside of the cab (70 dB) into account, so operators can work in a quieter, more comfortable environment. The JZ141 has a maximum operating weight of 39,593 lbs. (17,959 kg) and has a maximum bucket capacity of up to 1.16 cubic yards (0.89 cubic meters).
