JLG Introduces The X1000AJ Compact Crawler Boom
JLG Industries, Inc., and a world-class manufacturer of aerial work platforms and telehandlers, recently gave attendees of the 62nd annual New Orleans-based Rental Show a sneak peek at the JLG X1000AJ Compact Crawler Boom (CCB). JLG, a division of the Oshkosh Corporation, is keen to point out the truly massive work envelope of the new 100-foot (30.5-meter) height class CCB.
Reach Farther
Prior to the launch of the X1000AJ, JLG’s highest-end CCB is the X770AJ, which supports a 77.4-foot (23.5-meter) height, 84-foot (25.6-meter) working height, and 43-foot (13.1-meter) horizontal outreach. The new machine dramatically increases the verticality of the work envelope, with its 56-foot (17.1-meter) height, 54-foot (16.5-meter) horizontal outreach, and 105-foot (32-meter) working height.
Other features that are sure to please those looking for a highly capable aerial work platform include the X1000AJ’s 500-pound (227-kilogram) unrestricted platform capacity, a new articulated column design that lets you work right up against the surface of a structure, and a boom that’s capable of making multiple movements at once. The X1000AJ also supports a “go-home” function and a below-grade mode that lets operators access areas that are lower than ground level.
Crawlers, Crawlers Everywhere
At the 2018 Rental Show, JLG also unveiled its outdoors-friendly 400SC crawler boom lift, which is a 40-foot (12.2-meter) lift that forgoes traditional wheels in favor of tracks, making it more sure-footed on uneven terrain. The tracked machine also has a high flotation due to the wider surface pressure (5.2 psi, or 3.6 bar, ground-bearing pressure), making it suitable for use in muddy, snowy, and other soft-ground environments, in addition to concrete, compacted dirt, and sidewalks. Other features include a fuel-efficient variable-speed engine control, a heavy-duty DuraTough hood, and JLG SkyGuard enhanced control panel protection. The 400SC comes with rubber tracks, but JLG also offers steel or steel with rubber puck tracks as an optional upgrade.
