Skyjack Adds Telematics To Its Machines
Skyjack, a division of the Guelph, Ontario,-based Linamar Corporation, has begun installing its new ELEVATE telematics solution in Skyjack scissor lifts, telehandlers, and other machines manufactured for rental fleets. BlueLine Rental, Skyjack’s North American launch customer, is looking to have ELEVATE installed on every Skyjack machine it purchases throughout 2018.
Next-Level Telematics
ELEVATE is a system designed to deliver equipment rental organizations with detailed information about each machine in their fleets, including a history of machine utilization per operator, damage reports, machine utilization logs, and more. All of this information ties into the company’s enterprise resource management software to enhance overall planning, budgeting, billing, and safety.
Upwardly Mobile
ELEVATE has a strong mobile focus; the primary component is the Manager web portal, but machine operators and fleet managers alike have access to mobile apps (ON and GO, respectively) designed specifically to meet their needs. The ON app gives operators helpful tools such as pre-usage checks specific to each machine and operating time tracking. It also eliminates operator paperwork, letting them complete such functions digitally. The GO app gives managers on-the-go access to all the data from their fleet as collected by Manager.
The system is capable of transmitting data every 15 minutes via the Trackunit IRIS API, sending customizable SMS or email alerts, and generating up-to-the-minute reports. Customers who select the corresponding plan also get access to the Dual ID II keypad, which is capable of locking out a machine’s ignition unless an authorized operator is present and limiting machine access through remotely programmable PIN codes or RFID cards.
Telematics are becoming the killer app for rental businesses, so it’s no wonder Skyjack is leading the charge in this area.
