National Crane’s NBT55 Has A Fan In Champion Crane
National Crane manufacturer Manitowoc announced recently that the National NBT55 boom truck crane has become a favorite of the Des Moines-based Champion Crane, a major Midwestern contractor.
Powerful & Productive
According to Ben Six, Champion’s president, the crane’s ability to tackle a number of tasks including HVAC, roofing, residential trusses, tree work, and more, let his team get more work done in less time. “With the NBT55, we can complete two more jobs a day than we did previously,” Six says. He credits this to the speed of the commercial chassis used on National Crane models. National’s NBT55 also has a lift capacity of up to 55 tons (50 metric tons), which makes it one of the more capable cranes in the contractor’s fleet.
An Unexpected Champ
One big advantage that National’s boom truck cranes have is their impressive mobility, which lets Champion perform a job and quickly pack up the crane to get it rolling to the next job. Other standout features of the NBT55 include its 128-foot (39-meter) boom, a smoothness of operation that’s rare for boom trucks in this class, and an ergonomic, hydraulically tilting cab. Champion purchased its NBT55 and an NBT45-1 from Aspen Equipment; Aspen’s territory manager Tom Nugent says that National’s cranes have recently become the company’s biggest sellers.
