Cat Refreshes The D8T
Construction and mining equipment giant Caterpillar just unveiled the newly revamped D8T dozer. Available in Standard and Low Ground Pressure (LGP) configurations, the new D8T lets you do more in less time, and achieve ROI faster than ever.
One Massive Earth Mover
The Cat D8T dozer comes equipped with a fully automatic 4-speed transmission that’s tuned to burn up to 11 percent less fuel when performing light-duty work compared to the older D8T. The powertrain continuously optimizes the dozer for maximum power and greatest efficiency based on the load. Now that the machine doesn’t require manual gear shifting, less-experienced operators can get up to speed and become proficient with the dozer in less time.
A Slew Of Improvements
This new model is capable of moving more material per hour, by up to 18 percent, thanks in part to the automatic transmission, and thanks also to the dozer’s expanded blade capacity. Operators can now move up to 13.4 cubic yards per pass, which is an increase of 19 percent compared to the older model. Those customers who opt for Cat’s Performance Cutting Edges will also enjoy up to 25 percent better blade payload, particularly when working with heavily compacted or frozen material.
Other feature highlights include improved power and steering performance, a 354-horsepower (264-kilowatt) Cat C15 ACERT engine, up to 13 percent increased drawbar power, and a range of optional technologies that can simplify even the most complex dozing operations. Cat Connect GRADE technologies include full factory-integrated GPS, Cat Slope Indicate, Cat GRADE with Slope Assist, Cat GRADE with 3D, and factory Attachment Ready Option (ARO), which makes it easier to install a third-party grade control system.
