Perry, Oklahoma,-based Ditch Witch recently introduced the HT275 heavy-duty trencher, a machine designed to handle a variety of applications, including water, sewer, gas, power, and underdrain installations, pipeline distribution, and more.

    One Big Trencher

This machine is the biggest trencher the company has ever manufactured. It is capable of digging trenches and holes for utility installations up to 10 feet (3 meters) deep and 26 inches (66 centimeters) wide. The HT275 owes its impressive performance to its Cummins 275-horsepower (205-kilowatt) T4 engine and hydrostatic trencher-chain drive equipped with an infinitely variable displacement motor, which lets the HT275 adjust chain speed to rip through a wide variety of soil conditions.

    Innovation, Standard

According to Steve Seabolt, Ditch Witch product manager for heavy-duty trenchers, contractors can accomplish more in less time than ever, thanks to the machine’s modular design and purpose-built attachments. (A quartet of hydraulic quick-disconnect blocks make these simple to change.) The HT275’s patent-pending suspension mounts to the center of each track frame, allowing each track to “float” independently, so uneven terrain is no problem.

The trencher’s power sliding cab provides great job site visibility, especially when combined with the HT275’s external cameras that offer a full view of the surrounding area. Inside the cab, operators will also appreciate the air-ride suspension seat with 270-degree rotation, ergonomic joystick controls, and dual 7-inch displays.

    Service With A Smile

Ditch Witch made routine maintenance easy by installing a one-piece hood that opens wide to expose the engine and grants easy access to fluids, filters, and other frequent service areas. Operators can also use a handy remote to perform routine maintenance tasks and inspections at ground level. Finally, the aforementioned suspension also makes the HT275’s tracks easier to remove, which dramatically cuts down on maintenance time.
