Terex Unveils Updates To Its TA300 Articulated Hauler
Motherwell, Scotland,-based Terex Trucks just released the newest TA300 articulated hauler, complete with a redesigned transmission that lowers fuel consumption and improve performance and productivity.
A Monster Of A Hauler
The Terex TA300 articulated hauler is a 30-ton (28-tonne) machine equipped with a ZF EP320 transmission that consists of eight forward gears, four reverse gears, greater gear ratio spread, equal ratio steps between gears, and improved gear shifting. These changes let the TA300 perform better while consuming 5 percent less fuel. The smoother transmission as well as the true independent front suspension combine to deliver a more comfortable ride and better overall control for the truck’s operator.
According to Terex Trucks Product Manager Scott Pollock, the development of the TA300’s new transmission was a joint effort between Terex and ZF. Of the two-year field-testing pilot program used to perfect the new transmission, Pollock says, “Operators have had nothing but praise for the upgraded machine. Among some of the most commonly cited benefits are the improved fuel efficiency and performance, as well as the smoother gear shift quality.”
Additional Enhancements
Other features include a maximum speed of up to 34 mph, automatic shifting with manual override, reduced diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) consumption, long-life transmission fluid, an EU Stage 4/Tier 4 Final DC9 engine from Scania, and fully enclosed, oil-cooled, multi-disc brakes on all six wheels. These features and more make this machine an ideal fit for use on large-scale construction and infrastructure projects and in quarries.
Terex expects the new TA300 articulated truck to be available in Europe and North America starting in August.
