JLG Launches X1000AJ Compact Crawler Boom
The new X1000AJ Compact Crawler Boom (CCB) that aerial work platform and telehandler manufacturer JLG first previewed in February at The Rental Show for the 100-foot (30.5-meter) height class is now available for purchase. With the X1000AJ, JLG’s CCB lineup now includes fives models—X430AJ, X500AJ, X600AJ, and X700AJ—whose working heights range from 50 feet (15.24 meters) to 106 feet (32.3 meters).
Diesel Or Electric
Before the X1000AJ, the CCB lineup maxed out with the X770AJ’s 77.4-foot (23.5-meter) height, 84-foot (25.6-meter) working height, and 43-foot (13.1-meter) horizontal outreach. The X1000AJ extends these heights with its 56-foot (17-meter) up-and-over and 54-foot (16.5-meter) horizontal outreach, 100-foot platform height, and 106-foot (32.31-meter) working height. With its 3.9-foot (1.19-meter) width, the X1000AJ can fit through standard double doorways, making it suitable both for indoor and outdoor work. The machine can also maneuver through tight spaces thanks to retractable (and non-marking) tracks and a patented platform-disconnect system. The X1000AJ measures less than 22 feet (6.71 meters) long with its platform and less than 20 feet (6.1 meters) without it.
The X1000AJ comes with a 21.6-horsepower Kubota D902 diesel engine but is also available with a 76-volt lithium-ion electric motor that JLG says provides clean, quiet operation and performance comparable to or better than traditional gas-engine power. The X1000AJ supports a 500-pound (226.8-kilogram) unrestricted platform capacity and features a new articulated column design, technology supporting multiple simultaneous movements, one-touch self-leveling outriggers, large Teflon-coated outrigger pads, and SkyGuard enhanced control panel protection.
Reaching Greater Heights
JLG says the X1000AJ is ideal for hard-to-reach indoor and outdoor jobs and offers the versatility and mobility to support tasks that window washers, painters, maintenance professionals, electricians, and tree trimmers tackle.
