Manitowoc’s Potain Cab-IN Lift Is An Elevator For Tower Cranes

Manitowoc’s new Potain Cab-IN is a 2-person elevator for the company’s top slewing tower cranes. It’s designed to be easy to use without blocking access to the mast ladder.

As Manitowoc launched the internal mast operator lift, which it showed off last April at the Intermat Paris show, it noted that Cab-IN meets the requirements of new French regulations going into effect in January. The new laws require all tower cranes with a mast taller than 98.4 feet (30 meters) to include elevator access to the cab.

    Up Your Tower Crane Game

Not only can you buy Cab-IN along with a new Potain crane, you can even retrofit it to existing Potain cranes you already own. It’s compatible with all K-mast systems with 5.2-foot (1.6-meter), 6.6 foot (2-meter), and 8-foot (2.45-meter) sections.

Cab-IN also works with all Potain bases and chassis, the company says. Its maximum weight limit is 441 pounds (200 kilograms).

    Designed With Customer Input

Potain came up with Cab-IN in partnership with industrial elevator and construction lift manufacturer GEDA. Its development also incorporated feedback from VoC (Voice of the Customer), according to the company.

Potain says that Cab-IN doesn’t add anything to the crane’s setup time, transport cost, or storage space when the crane is not in use. What’s more, the lift provides maintenance access all the way up to the top of the mast.

    Deliveries will start in January.
