Caterpillar To Showcase 64 Machines At bauma 2019
Caterpillar is headed to the bauma 2019 trade show, running from April 8 to 14 in Munich, Germany. There, in a 96,875-square-foot (9,000-square-meter) exhibit with its dealer in Germany, Zeppelin Baumaschinen GmbH, Cat will show off 20 new machines and 44 others, including fully electric and diesel-electric hybrid models.

Among Cat’s new D6 dozers at the show will be the industry-first high-drive electric drive model, the D6 XE. It is, according to Caterpillar, “the world’s first high-drive electric drive dozer offering up to 35% better fuel efficiency than its D6T predecessor and the quick dirt-moving ability of constant power to the ground.”
The company’s wheel loaders will include the zero-emission, electric 906 concept compact, as well as a trio of fuel efficient XE models. The 966M XE and 972M XE both emulate a CVT with a hydrostatic drive paired with a parallel mechanical-gear path, while the 988K XE uses a diesel/electric-drive to save fuel. Other wheel loaders Cat will bring to bauma Munich include the 950 GC, 950M, 986K, 992K, 907M, 908M, and 938M; the ag-optimized 926M; and the 962M and 918M waste handlers. Also in the Cat exhibit will be the 973K track loader, the 259D compact track loader, the 444 backhoe loader, and the 226D skid steer loader.
On the track excavators front will be Cat’s 325F, 340F UHD (ultra-high-demolition), 390F, and Next Generation 330 GC, along with the 330 and 336 with integrated Cat Connect Technology. The Next Gen mini excavators present will be the 301.5, 301.6, 301.7 CR, 301.8, and 302 CR in the 1- to 2-ton (0.9-to 1.8-metric ton) category, and the 308 CR VAB, 309 CR, and 310 in the 7- to 10-ton (6.4- to 9.1-metric ton) class. Cat’s M314F, M315F, M317F, and M318F will represent its wheel excavators, and the MH3024 and MH3026 its material handlers.
The Cat TH408 telehandler will make an appearance, as well as the 777G 100-ton (90-metric ton) off-highway hauler truck. The latter will contrast with the lightweight, all-new Cat 730 articulated truck. The R1700 underground mining loader will round out the truck contingent.
On the roadbuilding side, Cat will bring its mid-sized AP555F rubber track paver, its PM310 cold planer, and the CS12 GC, CS44B, and CS66B vibratory soil compactors. The last three can use the optional Cat Compaction Control measurement and satellite mapping system.
Technologies & More
Other high-tech products and services to be demonstrated at the show include Cat’s Product Link telematics/fleet management solution, the Cat App for smartphones, the self-descriptive Remote Troubleshoot and Remote Flash, the Cat Product Link Locator PL161 wireless hours/location reporting tool, and Cat Command for dozing by remote control.
The company will also highlight its XQP100 generator set; its C2.2, C3.6, C4.4, C27, C7.1, and C9.3B engines; and the new C13B industrial power unit. Excavator attachments will include Cat’s new GC silenced hammers, its TRS23 tiltrotator, the MP332 and MP345 demolition multi-processors, and the new S3050 scrap shear. The new Yellowmark line of budget parts will be exhibited, as well.
