In order to comply with new international standards, Genie has updated its proven S-40 and S-45 telescoping boom personnel lifts. The new models are called the S-40 XC and S-45 XC.

“The ‘XC’ nomenclature lets customers know that the new Genie S-40 XC and S-45 XC models comply with the platform load sensing requirements in the new ANSI A92 and CSA B354 industry standards in North America, as well as the current European EN280 and Australian AS 1418.10 standards,” the company said in a statement.

At the same time, says Terex AWP’s Genie Product Manager Corrado Gentile, “we took the opportunity to not just update these popular models but to completely redesign them to incorporate all of the advantages of the Genie Xtra Capacity features.”

    Lift Specs

Both the S-40 XC and the S-45 XC have a dual lift capacity of 660 pounds (300 kilograms) unrestricted and 1,000 pounds (454 kilograms) restricted. There’s room on their platforms for up to three workers. Their base engine is a 48-horsepower (37-kilowatt) Tier 4F/Stage IIIB diesel; other motor options are available.

Genie says the S-40 XC model has a 39-foot, 6-inch (12-meter) working height and 31 feet, 8 inches (9.7 meters) of outreach. Its S-45 XC sibling has a strong jib, a 44-foot, 6-inch (13.6-meter) working height, and 36 feet, 2 inches (11 meters) of outreach.

    XC Features

The updated lifts have redesigned booms with features to keep them from getting overloaded. Automatic envelope control retracts the boom as it nears capacity, while a load sense cell keeps the unit within its load chart parameters according to the weight on the platform. Also, says Gentile, “we’ve designed our new chassis tilt sensor to restrict the machine’s range of motion based on the ground angle.”

The new XC lifts are compatible with the new Genie Lift Power generator, which has a dedicated hydraulic circuit and lets you lift and drive while the generator is in use. They also have a CAN-based control system with Genie Smart Link features. You can perform diagnostics and setup on a new LCD right on the machine, too, and use the Genie Tech Pro Link handheld diagnostics tool.
