Rayco’s New T415 Can Be A Mulcher Or A Stump Cutter
Morbark has debuted its new Rayco T415 Forestry Machine for large-scale land-clearing contractors and other customers. The versatile new machine can act as either a forestry mower/mulcher or a stump cutter, depending on the attachment you choose.
“The T415 packs a great deal of power and versatility to efficiently clear vegetation,” says Rayco Manufacturing Mulcher Specialist J.R. Bowling. “Our customers are going to be impressed by how efficiently this machine mulches even tough plant species in a one-pass mowing situation.”
The company says the system will also interest construction companies, vegetation control providers, electric utility and pipeline contractors, and real estate developers.
Land-Clearing Power
Aptly, the T415 uses a 415-horsepower (309-kilowatt) Cat C9.3B diesel engine with Tier 4 Final emissions standards compliance. It powers its attachment through a closed-loop hydrostatic system, which automatically increases its pump displacement under load to maintain a steady flow of 140 gallons per minute (530 liters per minute).
“It’s a lot of cutting power in a very nimble package,” Bowling says.
The T415 makes use of Rayco’s patented elevated cooling design, with radiators in the limbriser as well as in the aft of the engine compartment. The fans can reverse automatically or manually to clear debris from the radiator screens. After the job, you can remove the debris screens without tools and blow them out using an onboard air compressor.
There’s a heavy-duty, 35,000-pound (15,876-kilogram), hydraulic winch on the T415’s rear, along with a rear-view camera. High-output LED lighting gives you visibility on all sides of the unit. For safety, there’s an emergency stop button and a top escape hatch.
Attachments
“The added versatility to accept both stumper and mulcher heads makes the T415 a great value as well,” Bowling says. The company’s Predator mulching head and new Hydra Stumper attachment are both compatible with the T415.
The Predator mulcher has a 91.25-inch (232-centimeter) cutting width and 49 single-bolt teeth, including some end teeth with additional carbide. Two variable displacement drive motors run the head via a synchronous drive belt. Rayco outfits the Predator with a hydraulic debris flap, slotted mounting lugs, and an adjustable tree catcher. The company says it intends to make the DENIS CIMAF mulching head an option for the T415 as well.
Meanwhile, Rayco’s new Hydra-Stumper attachment uses a 48-inch (122-centimeter) cutter wheel that’s 3 inches (7.6 centimeters) thick to power through stubborn stumps. The wheel is festooned with 56 Monster Tooth cutter tools. Altogether, the Hydra-Stumper gives the T415 a cutting range that’s 9 feet (2.74 meters) wide, 8 feet 10 inches (2.69 meters) high, and 46 inches (117 centimeters) deep.
Rayco says to keep an eye out for two new mulcher models it plans to release later this year.
