SANY America recently gave its dealers and prospective customers a chance to test drive its SY26U zero-swing mini-excavator, released last summer. It’s designed for rental use, city construction, landscape engineering, and farmland improvements, the company says, and it can fit into confined spaces inaccessible to larger diggers.

    Open House

In one outreach effort, SANY invited local clients to its U.S. factory for an Open House event. In another, it sent SY26U test units to three of its dealerships in Salt Lake City, Utah, Long Beach, California, and Silverdale, Washington, where clients and local professional excavator operators tried them out. Some of the positive feedback reported by the company highlighted the excavator’s power, fuel efficiency, ease of operation and maintenance, and operator comfort.

SANY is currently delivering SY26Us to dealers and clients in the U.S., European, and Australian markets, it says.

    The Little Excavator That Could

The SY26U has a 19.6-horsepower (14.6-kilowatt) Yanmar engine that complies with Tier 4 Final emissions standards. Despite its compact dimensions, it boasts a bucket digging force of about 5,460 pounds (24.3 kilonewtons) and a maximum arm digging force of about 3,190 pounds (14.2 kilonewtons).

The SANY mini-digger weighs about 6,130 pounds (2,780 kilograms). Its bucket has a capacity of approximately 2.1 cubic feet (0.06 cubic meters). Its independent boom swing and zero tail swing radius help it operate in tight spaces. The SY26U has a swing speed of 10 rpm and a 2.8 mph (4.5 km/h) top speed.

SANY gave the SY26U an intelligent control system to adjust its hydraulic pump output according to available engine power. Another efficiency boon stems from a load-sensing feature of the hydraulic system, the company says.
