Skyjack Previews New, Bigger Scissor Lifts At The Rental Show

Skyjack, a division of Linamar Corporation, kicked off a new, full-sized range of rough-terrain scissor lifts at the American Rental Association's Rental Show 2019, also known as The Rental Show, this February. The new range will replace Skyjack’s current 88-inch (2.2-meter) and 92-inch (2.3-meter) models. The lifts will have taller working heights, increased lift capacities, and faster function speeds, the company says.

“We looked at what changes needed to happen to meet ANSI compliance, and dug further to see how we can make these more beneficial for our customers,” says Skyjack product manager Corey Connolly. “The decision to move forward with a new larger rough terrain range is twofold—improve the specifications and performance of our existing models while also mitigating the cost impact of the new ANSI/CSA standards.”

The new lineup should start to appear on the rental market in the third quarter of 2019.

    Reaching New Heights

Skyjack is previewing the range’s first model at the Rental Show. The new SJ9253 RT is the company’s biggest scissor lift so far, boasting a working height of 59 feet (18 meters).

“A key improvement to this range is Skyjack’s SMARTORQUE technology, which provides the machines with excellent torque and hydraulic performance, but with less engine horsepower,” says Barry Greenaway, also a product manager at Skyjack.

The SJ9253 RT’s fellow lifts will share its easily accessible service components, improved control system, color-coded and numbered wiring harnesses, and ELEVATE telematics technology. The AXLDRIVE four-wheel drive system will come standard on the lineup. None of the new models will require DEF or DPF.

    Bigger Things On The Horizon

The other lifts in the new range will be the SJ9233, SJ9243, and SJ9263 RT. That last model—bigger than the SJ9253 RT—will make it possible to work at six-story heights, Skyjack says, with a working height of 69 feet (21.03 meters). The SJ9263 RT is scheduled to debut in Q4 2019.
