John Deere To Make Its bauma Show Debut
John Deere is attending the bauma 2019 European trade fair for the first time this year. The event is underway now through April 14 in Munich, Germany. The company is showcasing 14 of its construction machines in the Wirtgen Group booth; Deere & Company acquired Wirtgen in December 2017.
“Our strong relationship with the Wirtgen Group and their experience with bauma is allowing us to introduce John Deere construction equipment to a broader set of global customers,” said Deere senior vice president of sales and marketing for Worldwide Construction & Forestry, David Thorne.
Show Models
Leading Deere’s lineup are the 622GP and 672GP SmartGrade motor graders with 12-foot (3.7-meter) and 14-foot (4.3-meter) moldboards, respectively. They include the Automation Suite to assist in common tasks, as well as an automatic cross-slope feature to facilitate consistent cuts. Unlike most of the other equipment Deere is prepared to show at bauma, the graders will be sold in Germany and France through Wirtgen, albeit without the SmartGrade mastless grade control system.
The show also marks the global debut of Deere’s E210 LC and E360 LC Series-II excavators with operating weights of 48,900- and 83,300-pound (22,200- and 37,800-kilogram), respectively. These will be sold in the Chinese, Russian, and southeast Asian markets with new interiors, touchscreens, engines, and intelligent hydraulics.
Also on hand are the Deere 624L and 944K wheel loaders. The latter, Deere’s largest model, has a hybrid-electric drivetrain.
Other non-Europe machines Deere plans to show include the 460E articulated dump truck with 92,200 pounds (41,820 kilograms) of payload capacity; the 950K PAT SmartGrade and 1050k hydrostatic crawler dozers; the 100-horsepower (75-kilowatt) 315SL backhoe loader; the 312GR, 318G, and 324G skid steers; and the 333G compact track loader with a vertical-lift boom.
Technology
Finally, Deere is letting show attendees use its simulator to run a virtual excavator or motor grader. The company is also exhibiting its John Deere Connected Support, telematics, JDLink Dashboard, and unmanned aerial intelligence systems at the Wirtgen booth.
